Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.
I lost my mother together with my sister when I was still a child. My sister Eunice was 24 years old when she died in a car accident together with my mother Charlotte who was also 52 years old. This was a great blow to my family. Eunice was full of strength, intelligent, full of wisdom, never missed church service, sang in the choir and was faithful in all her doings, yet we still lost her. My mother who was faithful to God, died and we couldn’t do anything about it because God allowed it.
My life changed from that day. I learned a lesson from that day onwards. I realized that I don’t live in eternity, which means I can be called at anytime. I came into realization that death is an appointment not an option. I became aware of the fact that it doesn’t matter if we are faithful to God or not, death awaits us all.
Eunice was a Christian. She was a good tither, paid her dues, never missed church service yet she died at such an early stage in life. There’s no time my friends. This is not the time to be drinking alcohol, engaging in sexual immorality, cursing and caressing in bed with a harlot. This isn’t the time to be messing around with bad company, living on drugs and living all kinds of negative life. Life isn’t measured by how long you live, it’s how effective you lived.
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
Our fear shouldn’t be in death because death has no power. People die each day; the great and the small, poor and rich, Kings and servants, educated and uneducated, yet none of them has been justified by their status while alive because God doesn’t respect titles.
On every gravestone there are two dates. The date you were born and the date you died. In between the two dates is a dash signifying how effective we lived. So if I may ask, How great is your dash? Are you living according to the counsel of the Lord? Will you be worthy of His calling on that day when He appears in the sky with His host of angels?
One day we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give account for what we did in our bodies.
Romans 14:10 – 12
You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. It is written: ” ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’ “. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
Remember God in the days of your youth. Live with the fear of God. Dwell in His presence always because one of these days you’ll also lie in that narrow bed alone.
