With Insensitivity And Lack of Love, You’ll Perish

We find within our societies lots of issues which, most often, are as a result of lack of love for one another. It is ridiculous how we show so much love to people outside our family but are insensitive about what happens to our own or members of our immediate family. We claim we love God, yet we hate those around us. How can you love one you’ve not seen before but hate the one who is alive with you?

It’s amazing how so called Christians live in hypocrisy, hate one another, are envious of one another, fight one another and yet call themselves… “Christ like”.

The one we serve and worship is love. The foundation of our faith is love. The kingdom we yearn to see is love. And if anyone is in Christ, he or she needs to live love because Christ is love.

Love is unconditional. Scripture commands us to love without a cause. But what do we see today? Everything is me, my children, my wife or husband. I tell you the truth my friend, I can’t find anywhere in the scriptures that God said love only your children as yourself and hate your immediate family. Nowhere in the scriptures! God didn’t say love your children and hate your immediate family and those in your community. Neither did it say love the ones in your community or your workplace together with your children and hate those of your immediate family. Even the unbelievers are better of than you if you don’t provide for your relatives.

1 Timothy 5:8
And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

It’s a tragedy to see people love only those who love them. Even the pagans do that. It’s a great tragedy to see people love only their children and yet ignore their parents who gave birth to them, nurtured them, fed and paid their fees, covered their nakedness and made sure they had a great future.

Matthew 19:19
Honor your father and mother; also, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Who amongst you wants to show how much he loves God? Prove that by first honoring your father and mother because they are God’s first authority on earth, then love your neighbor as yourself. We have no genuine love today, no sensitivity for one another, we’ve lost our conscience, we have no morals, full of pride and above all, we don’t even fear God.

One day, one of the parishes who was a lawyer asked Jesus a question to test Him. And he was like….

Matthew 22:36 – 40
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

What! Did Jesus Christ say that? All the laws, the ten commandments, and the prophets hang around this new commandment? This means you cannot have Faith if you lack genuine love (agape) , and you cannot have Grace without faith. It’s a tragedy to be self-centered. It is dangerous to only love those who love you. It is not Christ like.

Matthew 5:43 – 48
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the righteous and on the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Christ has said it all. Let this moment be a time for change, change for the better. Seek not for yourself only. Love genuinely. This proves that you are a Kingdom citizen.
