True Freedom

True Freedom

Let me share something with you on freedom.

I grew from an environment where only the fittest survived, a tough one. We lived with no true love (agape) at all, only the hypocrisy type. You only find some love from your immediate family sometimes.

As it is by nature, there’s time for everything. Time to be born and time to die. So In the course of time many died and were buried as usual. Then death visited us, we lost our mother and sister (basically my father’s wife and daughter) together in a car crash. I was a child by then. This was tough for us to handle because we were the only ones we had around. I nearly loosed my faith because we were so tied to religion and were blind to the reality of God’s love for humanity. All we knew was being faithful to our religious beliefs, attending school and achieving good grades, becoming whatever you dreamt of becoming, marry and make a family, die and leave earth. We had no sense of purpose because there was no light at all. So Fear filled me as days, weeks, months and years passed by because almost everyone around was dying without turning to Christ completely. And I sensed deep down in my heart that we were enslaved to religion and doctrines, having no freedom at all; not knowing the true God.

Then I decided to seek God and His Kingdom, in order to discover my purpose in His Kingdom. This was the beginning of change!

One morning, I took the Bible, opened it and started reading. And I came across the freedom statement.

2 Corinthians 5:14 – 21

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

I jumped and shouted Halleluya! That was my stamp of freedom. I realized that no priest can offer sacrifice for atonement of his sins my sins. I came into realization that there’s nothing I could do to become righteous even if I stayed faithful to all those doctrines, praying through saints and asking Mary to intercede on my behalf. All I have to do is embrace Christ and His gift of Grace. I knew from that day that religion and doctrines were only putting me under the law. Most importantly I realized that I’m a saint and only Christ can intercede for me.

Everything seemed foolish to me, so I picked up my cross and followed Jesus. That’s why I can’t stop preaching Jesus because He died to pay off our debt. I can’t stop preaching Jesus because He reconciled us to God the Father and made us ambassadors of His Kingdom. We are now children of God. Halleluya!

I call on you reading this message, whether you are a Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, atheist or scientologist, turn from religion and follow Jesus. If you are a Baptist, an orthodox, a charismatic, a pentecostal or an apostolic, denominations cannot save you. Only Jesus Christ can save you. He’s the way, truth and life. Jesus loves you, that’s why He died for you on the cross. He paid off the debt (sin, death and grave) you owed. He says “come to me and I’ll wash your sin away and make you spotless as snow.

Today, if you hear Him calling you, harden not your heart. Jesus is the true freedom!
