There’s been many time where it’s been difficult for us to love our neighbors and do them good. Honestly, we easily forgive members of our immediate family and those who reciprocate love towards us but when it comes to our neighbors, reasons and actions are weighed before considering forgiveness. But truth be told our family are far from us in times of adversity, there we find our neighbors. Those we find fault with are the ones, who fortunately or unfortunately are present in times of calamity.
Your network must be made up of family and friends. A real and solid network requires more than on generation to build. This is why parents must introduce their children to loyal friends and create that relationship which will be needed when they’re dead and gone. Parents must teach their children what it means to be faithful and loyal to friends and family.
Proverbs 27:10 says “Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.“
Reading this verse of the scriptures reminds me of how far a friend stood by me in trying times. When family cared less about my welfare, he made sure I had food on my table, and he looked for a job for me. He’s been financing this website and managing for years now. As a matter of fact he developed this website to support our ministry in propagating the gospel. Hardly do you find a brother and a sister or, and even parents who are friends. What I mean is that family members scarcely become friends of one another. Family can easily forsake you but friends will be faithful.
Proverbs 17:17 says “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
Friends don’t love for a moment, they love at all times. This is why Jesus said in John 15:12-15
“This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love has no man than this, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS. You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knows not what his lord does: BUT I HAVE CALLED YOU FRIENDS; FOR ALL THINGS THAT I HAVE HEARD OF MY FATHER I HAVE MADE KNOWN UNTO YOU.“
Be careful who you call a friend. Friends lay down their lives for one another and keep no secret away from one another.
Forsake not your friends and your father’s friends because when all hell breaks loose and family forsake you, they’ll stay loyal to you.
Treat your neighbors with respect and love, because if they dance to your hatred you’ll be dead before your family reach your home; that day when you are sick or in calamity. Proverbs 3:29 says “Devise not evil against thy neighbour, for he dwells by you for safety’s sake.”
This is a hard truth!
As a Christian you must value others better than yourself. In so doing you’ll learn to give to others and support them when the need arises; loving them as yourself. Apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit wrote the other day in Philippians 2:3-5 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.“
May the Holy Spirit teach you the truth and inspire you to love one another. Love is the Core of Faith. Without love, faith is meaningless.
